UGANDA BATTLES WITH FLOODING AS LAKE VICTORIA RISES
Key among Uganda’s Government considerations is undertaking emergency maintenance of roads & bridges following destruction caused by recent flooding across the country. The rising water levels in Lake Victoria is threatening critical infrastructures. For instance, landing facilities were submerged & operations suspended. However, government is responding with restoration works on MV Kiyindi—Buvuma Ferry landing sites. See tweet below
Lake Victoria, largest lake in Africa and chief reservoir of the Nile, lying mainly in Tanzania and Uganda but bordering on Kenya. Its area is 26828 square miles
